Child abuse and neglect are defined by Federal and State laws.  All States and territories except Georgia and Washington include emotional maltreatment as part of their definitions of abuse and neglect.  We are trying to change this to better suite some of the issues we have been facing at the shelter.

My Friends Place homeless Shelter has been doing really good for just starting out. We have had a few youth continually since our opening. One young lady has actually went back with her mom and the others are doing better in school. We have a tutor now that is coming in daily to help the kids with homework and studying, which they love. The youth seem to be having a great time once they are here. We also have a new shelter manager who is doing a fantastic job of organizing the shelter and getting what we need done, done.
