Over the years, Safe harbor has had many accomplishments in working with youth. The following is a short list of some of our accomplishments.
- In 1994, the Tri-Cities Council for Children recognized the need for a facility in our community to respond to the need for emergency child care.
- In May of 1997, Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery began contracting for services on a limited basis in emergency situations.
- In June 1998, the crisis nursery began 24 hour service at a leased facility.
- In December 1998, Safe Harbor opened the doors of its own facility. In the first year of operation, Safe Harbor served 642 children from the Tri-Cities.
- In 2000, 1445 children from birth through age 8 visited the crisis nursery for up to 72 hours of free care. In 2001, 2500 children are expected at Safe Harbor.
